Things to do in Megève

Megève is a chic French mountain village about 1h15 by car from Geneva, with no direct train link — reaching it means driving or a taxi/transfer, not a rail journey. It works best as a winter base: the ski area and the village's alpine atmosphere are the draw from December to March, and hotel and restaurant prices run high to match.

In summer, with the lifts largely closed and no major glacier or high-altitude site to visit, the appeal thins out fast outside a handful of events, and a day trip can feel thin unless shopping, spa time or a gastronomic meal is the actual goal.

Megève has no equivalent of Chamonix's Aiguille du Midi cable car or Mer de Glace — there is no direct access here to the big glaciated sights of the Mont Blanc massif, so visitors chasing those views should look to Chamonix instead.
